About the event

Many gifted and twice-exceptional (2e) children thrive when exploring their special interests. These areas of intense curiosity often reflect deep thinking, advanced knowledge, creativity, pattern recognition, exceptional memory and a genuine love of learning. This session celebrates those strengths and provides a welcoming environment of supportive peers and parents.

Space, physics, insects, games, coding, maths, history, engineering, maps, art, animals, or something completely unique? Our kids can bring objects to show, share a PowerPoint, display photos, demonstrate a collection, or simply talk about what fascinates them.

Presenting a special interest helps build confidence, communication skills, and pride in personal knowledge, while giving other children the chance to discover new interests and ask thoughtful questions.

No doubt, connections will be made between kindred minds and new friendships formed. Seeing our children bond over shared interests, while parents connect through common experiences, is at the heart of our community and one of GTCASA's core values.

We are aiming for up to 10 minutes per child, comprising approximately:

  • 5 minutes to present their special interest and share their ideas.

  • 5 minutes for questions and discussion.

These timings are intended as a guide rather than a strict requirement. We simply want to reassure families that presentations do not need to be lengthy, while ensuring every child has the opportunity to present during the 2-hour session.

The discussion can be led by the presenting child, supported by their parent(s), or facilitated by a GTCASA committee member to help encourage questions and conversation where needed.

Presentation ideas include:

  • A favourite subject or hobby

  • A collection

  • A science or history topic

  • A game, technology or coding project

  • Artwork or a sketchbook of ideas

  • Animals and Biology

  • Something you've built, created or discovered

  • ...An answer to the matter-antimatter asymmetry problem?? ( one of our kids is bound to figure it out 😉 )

Whether it's your first presentation or your fiftieth, we'd love to hear what makes you light up!

The entry fee assists us to support the successful operations on the day.

Free for GTCASA Members. Please enter your membership voucher code at checkout. We will be in touch to gather details about our young presenters, to allow us to create a presentation schedule, ensure we have the materials and tech we need, and ensure everyone has time during the 2-hour session. This is going to be brilliant day!
